Super Moon— June 23, 2013Be sure to look out for the Moon these next few months as it approaches Perigee, because the full moons during these times will appear exceptionally large. The Moon will be at its Perigee, or closest approach, in July 23 and it will reach full moon only a few minutes after it passes this point in its orbit. These ‘super moons’ not only appear larger because they are physically closer but, combined with a full moon, the mind can play tricks on you to think they are much larger. This phenomena is called the Moon Illusion. Try to catch these full moons as they rise/set because the illusion works when there is an object in the foreground, like a tree, building or mountains.

Two very important things you should know about me and why I am a sad excuse for a functioning being:
1. I stared at this can for a good five minutes trying to figure out how water, peas and celery could be considered “non-vegetarian ingredients” before I realized what it was really saying.
2. This morning I woke up early so I could sign onto WoW real quick and do one daily quest, so that I could get my Cloud Serpent mount.  Couldn’t wait till I got home, had to do it this morning.
If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the corner, staying out of the adults’ way.

#1= Same.

Nathan Durfee paints the Piccolo Spoleto poster; makes an amazing video in the process.

Every review of Russian Ark  begins by discussing its method. The movie consists of one unbroken shot lasting the entire length of the film, as a camera glides through the Hermitage, the repository of Russian art and history in St. Petersburg. The cinematographer Tillman Buttner, using a Steadicam and high-def digital technology, joined with some 2,000 actors in an tight-wire act in which every mark and cue had to be hit without fail; there were two broken takes before the third time was the charm.” ~Roger Ebert

Samantha Keely Smith

“Smith’s artwork represents a striving to reconcile the inner world of instinct and the tidal sweep of our emotional life, with an external world that is both beautiful and hostile in its natural grandeur. She attempts to map the place where these worlds intersect.” visualmelt
